for
Rocky Mountain National park

Fishing conditions are pretty consistent on all the lower elevation streams at this time. Water temperatures are in the high 30's to low 40's, and insect activity is predominantly small midges (#20-26), and olive or gray baetis (#20-22). Over the next two weeks you can expect to start seeing very small stoneflies in green, brown or black (#16-18 2x).
Suggested patterns:
Midges:
BWOs & Adams:
Desert Storm
CDC Emerger
Black Beauty
Barr's Emerger
Disco Midge
Olive Parachute
Stream flows are all very low, with ice forming overnight along the shoreline. Most of the fish are holding in shallow water within a couple feet of shore, under foam lines and downstream of riffles where insects are hatching.
River specific fishing reports will be posted over the next 2 weeks.
